Canvas announces inaugural premiere party to celebrate publication of its fall 2018 issue

Staff report

Canvas is partnering with 78th Street Studios to hold its first premiere party.

The party, which will celebrate the release of Canvas’ fall 2018 issue, will be held in conjunction with 78th Street Studios’ Watch It Wednesday, a monthly art-making event that gives visitors an up-close look at the creative process of artists who call 78th Street Studios home.

The Canvas Premiere Party/Watch It Wednesday event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 1300 W. 78th St., Cleveland.

“We’re excited both for readers to get their hands on the fall issue of Canvas and to be marking the occasion with our inaugural premiere party,” says Michael C. Butz, Canvas editor. “Further, we’re thrilled to partner with 78th Street Studios. Watch It Wednesday is a fantastic opportunity for art enthusiasts to go behind the scenes with artists they may otherwise see only on Third Fridays, and we at Canvas can’t wait to be a part of that experience.”

Artists expected to participate in the Aug. 1 Watch It Wednesday include Bruce Buchanan (stained glass), Eileen Dorsey (oil painting), Susie Frazier (mixed media), Hilary Gent (painting), Jack Gibby (painting), Laurel Herbold (illustration, painting), Marti Higgins (mixed media), Deb Hinz (jewelry making), Zack Hoon (photography, framing), Mark Krieger (acrylic painting), Jon Kvassay (illustration), Eric Rippert (painting), Charmaine Spencer (sculpture, eco art), Dawn Tekler (encaustic painting), Eva Volf (painting) and Rebekah Wilhelm (printmaking).

Tickets to Watch It Wednesday can be purchased through the Susie Frazier Showroom at 78th Street Studios. Tickets are $15 each online or $20 at the door. Children under 14 receive free admission.

Watch It Wednesday tickets always include a complimentary drink ticket and an artist-made gift to take home. As an added bonus on Aug. 1, visitors also will be given a copy of the new Canvas upon arrival.
